Grand day,
Hope all is well with you and yours. Today I am giving thanks for my sons. This is one of many that I will give thanks for my sons. Second to life they are my most significant gift. I have two sons Quentin and Tarik. They have both since the day being born keep being a blessing. All not starting in the positive but ending that way. I will first start with my sons’ blessings began with their Mothers, Julie and Sharlene. I am forever grateful for those two women. I was a fool and didn’t always realize the gift of my sons.
My oldest have been more of the intellect since he was young. A voracious reader starting in the second grade. Reading around 20 books a month. When he was 10 years old, we were having a conversation about his fascination with the internet. He was able to research a variety of schools, and concluded he will one day go to an Ivy League school. This was a moment as a young father I didn’t know how my thoughts and actions were able to impact my son’s life. I chose to encourage his thoughts. When I told certain folks close to me, some didn’t believe it was possible and I need to let him know he should change his focus. Quentin did make it to an Ivy League school on scholarship.
My youngest son Tarik was more an athlete but highly intelligent. When he was young, he flourished in several sports but swimming end up being his thing. Now a little older I had the opportunity to go with what I know, football and basketball. Tarik was very good at both football and basketball, but swimming was his thing. Since 8 years old, he was one of the top swimmers in the state of Maryland and went to school on a scholarship.
I once read a book Conquering an Enemy Called Average. Had a passage, that ask for us to never tell a young one what they not able to do. You never know The All may have been waiting just for them.
My son has always been and continue to be my greatest gift next to life.
Peace
